Very Small Delivery Portions and Pricey
I recently placed an order for delivery only to be shocked by how SMALL the portions were. My order totaled 30.64 for the equivalent of 4 spring rolls, 1 cup of green curry with chicken, and an even smaller portion of chicken eggplant with basil that arrived with NO eggplant, although a few eggplant seeds were visable. My green curry was mostly oil -meaning more oil than coconut milk! -a most unusual consistency. My side of brown rice was the equivalent of a single ice cream scoop! I had ordered for one person hoping to have left overs for the next day. $34.64 (with tip) later, I had no such luck. Also, both dishes were SUPER hot (as in chili) I am new to DC from San Francisco and am hoping that I can do better. UnfortunateIy, I would NOT recommend Basil Thai despite the few positive reviews I read online from 2007.

Love it!
We live nearby and go whenever we can. This is a small, folksy atmosphere with great food and attentive service. We like the picture window on Halloween - to watch the Georgetown kids go by in costume. Good prices, too.

Pleasant Surprise!
The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly. I am usually very hesistant to try new Thai restaurants because the quality is often disappointing but Basil Thai was a welcome surprise. They are quick for both delivery and takeout and my family orders it almost any time we order out.
