Bethesda Curry Kitchen

Buffet for lunch at under $11 during week days, can't beat that price at Bethesda, MD. The cheese on spinach (palak paneer) was soft and with a lot of flavor. The butter chicken had a great taste and the chicken was halal (the owner showed us the original container when we inquired if the meats were halal). Naan had a little bit of butter and was crispy and with great aroma. We had to eat it warm; by the end of our lunch (an hour later) it was hard and not as delicious as when it was just brought to us. Salad was a little bit poor (iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber); but the sauces were new to my taste. I am not a rabbit, so I didn't care much for it. The vegetables casserole was excellent. They were cooked to the right texture...not too hard and not too soft. I would go back to just have some more of that dish. The mushrooms were delicious and so were the lentils. All in all, there were 6 main dishes (3 vegetarian and the rest only chicken), 4 breads/donuts, salad and a rice dessert. I asked when the goat/lamb dishes were coming out; but they said that it was only appearing on weekends.... yeah, but then the price on the weekend buffets are $2 more... We were the only customers, so the food was covered and the tongs to pick up the food were inside and very hot. They should put a plate out on the table to keep the utensils cool. Maybe next time I get back I will let them know. I would definitely recommend this place for it's buffet, I only go to buffets anyway, so don't ask me to review the dishes on their menu... although they read very appealable; but I would leave to someone else to rate them. Yeah, I am the guy that only goes to buffets around town... now you know who I am. About the value, the price is a bit high for the number of main dishes, I would expect to get soup and more dessert; but I give it a 5 just for the quality of their food. Anyway, we cut on the tip, so we got even.... yeah, we were also cheap.
