After Going to the BLT Restaurant--I Would Have Rathered Been Home Eating A BLT!

Besides the water server--everything was downhill---waited 58 minutes for lamb chops, swordfish, lobster salad and 2 orders of potato skins. We requested to see the manager who walked passed us when the server told him that we were having problems with the service. The manager came back to only state that the food would be out momentarily. Then never came back to the table to follow up with us....extremely unprofessionable behavior. Swordfish was ok, lobster salad was ok, potato skins made me want to take someone out back for a swift kick in the butt---over cooked--maybe even "re-cooked." Although the potato skins were missing 1/2 of one in each plate--only 1 order was deducted. It was my daughter's birthday--very unedible dessert was sent out with a lit candle and not even one single happy birthday. Needless to say---we will NEVER, EVER, EVER RETURN NOR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR CORPORATE APPROVALS.

    Birthday Dinner

Six adults in party. At first was seated next to front door, we asked to move immediatly due to cold air coming in thru front door. Was advised that, "the temp is the same in the whole restaurant" we were allowed to move anyway because the restaurant mostly empty. Service was good at first thru water and drinks but acceptable at best throughout the rest of the meal. It seemed as though there was no particular server assigned, after a lengthy wait to order we asked for our waiter and was told that anyone could take the orders so he took the order. The opinion on the quality of the food varied around the table from very good to not good at all. The pop-overs (bread) was not fully cooked, and almost the entire amount served went back and no one asked why. The sides, totaling six, were OK except for the onion rings which no one would eat because of the very bland and and uncoiled dough taste. The opinions on the quality of the entrees varied from very good to not good at all. I had the bone-end rib eye and it was not good. The taste was good but the amount of marbling (sp?) was so extensive that the meat was all but not edible. Another steak of the same type similarly not eaten. Although there was a fair amount on unearth meat being cleared from the table no one on the staff made any inquiries about it. When dessert was ordered the order was taken by a female in regular street clothes who seemed to be observing the operation throughoutbthe time we were there. After taking the order and a regueat for coffee from two of the people she either didn't submit the coffee regrets or forgot

    great steak

Everyone at our table of 6 had a delicious meal served with style. Popovers excellent. Servers all seemd very interested in making us happy and meal cooked to our liking. Full, upbeat , DC restaurant that I am giving gift certificate to friends. Definitely go back.

    Great service and good eats

As a frequent visitor to the DC area I like to try different restaurants on the companys dime. BLT Steaks atmosphere can be intimidating, because the staff gives off a snobby vibe, however the service was extrodinary. All my needs were attended to right away, whenever I was finished with my drink and dinner. I had the Rack of Lamb which was very tender and not fatty at all. I also had raw clams which were great, I guess the only downfall to BLT is the price, very expensive. Lastly as far as the atmospher, I went right after work and the place was filled with Power brokers and politicians.

Gives DC Dining a Bad Name

BLT is totally mediocre. Our waiter was poor, acting put upon from the moment we sat down. Popovers were good, but too busy (cheese, butter and a giant salt shaker). The crab appetizer tasted like nothing, the steak tasted like grill and the fish was bland. The dessert special tasted good, but an attempt at whimsy was poorly executed. The atmosphere left much to be desired - think lots of leathery 45-year-old cleavage and silver chest hair spilling from half-buttoned shirts. There are at least a dozen restaurants in DC where one can get similar cuisine, that actually tastes good, for similar prices (or cheaper).

Wait 6 months before going there

The menu reads better than it tastes, the seasoning is not up to par with expectations as it is over or under done but never right. The restaurant may be too busy too soon with a staff not prepared to service the crowd. The management should control the reservation book so they can control the quality of service which is far below what we expect from a fine restaurant. The presentation of the food is worth the trip so wait a while before you go.
