Why work so hard to make a frozen pizza?
I visited this restaurant for dinner with my husband tonight. He wanted pizza so we went here. Upon being seated, we were greeted by an enthusiastic server who set Italian bread, butter and a tapanade on our table. The bread was very unfortunate. It had the flavor and texture of Wonder bread the butter was too cold to use, and the tapanade made the bread edible. Our next course of bruschetta was the highlight of the meal. They obviously used their wood fired oven to this wonderful appetizer. The bread was perfectly toasted, and had a great mixture of garlic, olives, tomatoes, and capers on top. (I know, not traditional, but still very yummy). We ordered a margarita pizza and meatballs for dinner. The pizza was our biggest disappointment. It was just too close to a frozen pizza in appearance, flavor, and texture for us. The pizza was perfectly round with a strange yellow cheese on top. The crust, while nicely chewy, was lacking flavor. The tomato sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee. It seemed to be missing any spice that would cut down on its sweetness. The meatballs were just OK. They were a fairly good size, but they were flat on flavor. They really needed a little ground fennel and oregano to boost them up. My husband complained to our server that the pizza wasn't what was expected, and as promised, she sent over a manager. The manager explained to us that everything was made here and nothing was frozen. We could go watch them cook if we wanted to. Based on this brusque interaction with the manager, and the mediocre food, we will not be visiting this restaurant again.
