    what a waste!!

I dropped by Eastern Market today for the first time in years. Decided to east at B&C bc it was familiar. Price was never a bargain but for $16 including tip (service was ok) I had 3 eggs that must have been laid by a bantam chicken, two of the flimsiest strips of bacon ever shaved from a pig and instead of the turkey sausages promised, two slices of canadian bacon. They called it the Big Breakfast but juice and coffee were extra. Never Again.

    Unpleasant experience

My husband and I went to Bread & Chocolate yesterday for brunch and were sorely disappointed. While we understood that our server was busy, we asked him for our check twice and waited patiently and he never brought it. Finally, we flagged down someone else to bring it. Furthermore, for what we paid for our meals, the portions were incredibly small.

    Very disappointed

On the recommendation of a friend, I went to B and C for Sunday brunch. The normally crowded restaurant was handled by confused and exhaused waitresses. I ordered. I looked around and everyone had a sick looking prepared salad on their plate accompanying the main course. So was I to get this mess on my plate. It was old browned lettuce and had been dressed for hours. The main dish was ok, paultry, but ok. Another customer asked about the salad and was told that normally potatoes are served to accompany the brunch items, but on the weekends they usually run out of potatoes. How can you run out of potatoes when you are one block from Eastern Market?

    Cozy, Affordable Brunch

There is no better way to spend a Saturday/Sunday morning than brunching at Bread and Chocolate. The food is great and a really good value. BUT the best part is their cappuccino--by far the best cappuccino in the District!

    Great Good. Bad Service.

A sit-down cafe franchise offering a nice selection of brunch items: omlettes, French toast, soup, salad, and sandwiches... We were originally offered a crampy undesirable seating. We asked to be seated elsewhere. Food was very tasty and delicious. Definite nods. However, our waiter never checked up on us to see 'how we were doing with the food'. Plus, the bill arrived at the table even before we finished eating. On top of that, we asked to have our water glasses refilled 4 times to 4 different waitresses. Only the 5th person promptly came back with a water pitcher. Conclusion: Food is great; Service is in need of serious improvement.

    Not impressed

We were really looking forward to going to B & C. Our experience was not the greatest. We were sat 3 of us pretty much in a high traffic route to the kitchen. The servers are not very attentive and were annoyed at where we were sat by the hostess and kept knocking into us. The food was okay but noting over the top. But this was something new for me at a restaurant- the hostess rather than grabbing a fork and knife from the back grabbed our set off of the table while were seated there to give it to the table that she was JUST being seating. One of the most bizarre things to have happened at a restaurant for us. Wouldn't go back....

    Nice place to enjoy lunch

Very nice food at reasonable price. Nice staff and good atmosphere. One of our favorites for a light lunch.
