Excellent food, poor service.
Food was quite good, a little bit pricey for a quick lunch, but worthy. The service was poor, the waitress scolded us at the very beginning for not speaking in English (among us, not with her) She forgot to bring some beverages and at the end got amazed when we asked to get the tip out of the check and even started an argument with us. Result: no tip and not coming back

like a home away from home
The service of the staff and the atmosphere and vibe they've cultivated is unparalled. It is THE perfect place to enjoy a quality beer and homey meal after work without the pandamonium of nearly every other restaurant and happy-hour joint in the Northeast. I live and work in the greater NYC area and places like Cafe Mozart are extremely rare and special. I enjoyed the seasonal Oktoberfest draft and then became enticed by their menu offerings. Beef goulash with bread dumplings and red cabbage. Well seasoned and well portioned. The dumlngs were particularly deliciou...the best I've had since Prague. The beef coulkd have been a little less lean, but no complaints. I will certainly add Cafe Mozart as a must visit whenever I am in DC.

A very pleasant surprise!
Tucked behind a deli/specialty grocer is a wonderful restaurant that we tried after reading other reviews. Wow! Excellent sausage platter, sauerbraten, pork roast, beer, strudel...ok, everything we tried was delicious. Excellent service with a server willing to answer lots of questions. I highly recommend this place. Oh, and the grocery has hard to find imported chocolate! Will come back when on DC again.

Opera Night! @ Cafe Mozart DC
Went there recently as a guest with some friends. Food and service was good. The musical performers were excellent and we all had a wonderful experience. I would come again for the food and entertainment!

Good German Food & Beer In DC
When I visit DC I usually eat at Cafe Mozart at least once, Good, authentic German cuisine, several German beers on tap, reasonable price considering it's DC. Dinner with a half-liter of beer is about $25. I particularly like the sausage sampler plate, about half-a-dozen different German/Austrian style sausages. They also have a deli up front of the sit-down restaurant and bar, and a banquet room where I have hosted visitors from Russia a few times, everyone was pleased with food and service. Most nights they have live music in the evenings, quite good.
