At strong recommendation, I tried Cakelove twice and was extremely disappointed. First had a chocolate eclair and next a slice of a cake (don't remember which one.) On both occassions, my friend and I ended up not finishing them. They were just - blah. I have heard their cakes are good but I am not trying them.

I went to the Silver Spring CakeLove over the weekend and was very disappointed. The service was marginal at best. I bought six cupcakes, they looked delicious, but looks were deceiving! Even my 5 year old son told me he though the cupcake tasted old. We ended up throwing the rest away. At $3 bucks a pop, I was sad to do it, but I knew they wouldn’t get eaten. I have tried CakeLove before and was never that impressed, this last trip was enough to make me never go back.

I can find better tasting and cheaper cupcakes at the supermarket. This place is overhyped.

I've been to Cakelove twice - and found the cupcakes to be dry - and no particular taste to any of them. Amazingly, the frosting is also dry. It stuns me that this gets good ratings from anyone.

On separate occasions I've tried both a cupcake and a slice of cake. Both were dry and flavorless. The food is extremely over rated and very over priced. In addition, service was marginal. Plenty of staff standing around, but no one was making an effort to wait on customers in a timely or friendly fashion.

The cupcakes were soooo dry. I took a few bites of mine and put it down. I had been so excited to try Cakelove after hearing it compared with Magnolia Bakery... those comparisons are completely undeserved. Except for one man working behind the counter, the service was impatient and unhelpful in finding out what was in each cake/cupcake. I had a bite of the chocolate cake layered with vanilla buttercream that wasn't awful, but it sure wasn't delicious! Subpar food, and extremely overpriced for it. Stay away.
