The cupcakes are dense, moist and flavorful. They are unique in the marketplace and have a very rich feel to them.

Purchased two cupcakes from the National Harbor location and they were unappetizing. Very dry and very tasteless. The cashier was clueless about most of the cupcakes and didn't show any enthusiasm in helping me. Rest assured I won't be back.

i have tried gtwn, curbside, crumbs, whole foods, balducci and I find cakelove's cupcakes the best. it is pricey, but it is worth it. other places have sugary icing, which is i detest. At cakelove, the icing is buttery. You do have to wait for the cakes and cupcakes to come to room temperature, but it has never been dry. i have only been to the silver spring location so perhaps i have been lucky.

I have to pile on here. CakeLove has been cruising on an Oprah appearance about 100 years ago. The cupcakes are just bad. The only positive I can think of is that they have some vegan choices if you are, or hang out with vegans, but other than that, skip it.

I was quite disappointed in CakeLove's cupcakes. I tried the coconut lime and the toffee, and both of the cakes were dry and tasteless, and the frosting tasted waxy, reminiscent of melted crayons. I make cupcakes frequently (Magnolia Bakery's Recipe- google it, its amazing!) and the cupcakes I make at home are 1000 times better than these. Way over hyped and overpriced.

At strong recommendation, I tried Cakelove twice and was extremely disappointed. First had a chocolate eclair and next a slice of a cake (don't remember which one.) On both occassions, my friend and I ended up not finishing them. They were just - blah. I have heard their cakes are good but I am not trying them.

I went to the Silver Spring CakeLove over the weekend and was very disappointed. The service was marginal at best. I bought six cupcakes, they looked delicious, but looks were deceiving! Even my 5 year old son told me he though the cupcake tasted old. We ended up throwing the rest away. At $3 bucks a pop, I was sad to do it, but I knew they wouldn’t get eaten. I have tried CakeLove before and was never that impressed, this last trip was enough to make me never go back.
