Captain White's Seafood City

We ate at Captain White on a Sunday and the place was expectedly quite busys. We were a family of 9 and had family members visiting us for the first time to try captain white. We waited about an hour for our food which is fine. But after we picked up our food, I spoke to a girl cashier and asked for paper plates for our party. There is one manager who noticed us and whispered at the girl to charge us for each paper plates we requested. I told the man, we just spent $75.00 and waited one hour and now you want to charge us a petty fee for paper plates? He responded saying "we can have 2 plates" for free and further giving us bad attitude like we did anything wrong to upset him. I wasn't concerned about the fee for the plates but for the mere principal of it all and the way we were being treated by this guy. I was quite embarassed at my family because I was talking about how great this place was and then they had to experience this from this place. This is probably the 5th time i've been to this place with my wife but, after last Sunday we're never going back to captain white. We have friends and families living in DC, MD and VA who initially recommended captain white to us but now we'll be making the reccomendations not to go back to this place.

Well worth the trip. I got up early went to the Maine Ave Fish Market. They have Live Crabs, Live Lobsters, and fish I have never heard of. It is like a farmers market but with seafood. All Fresh! I can cook it myself or they will cook for me. Prices are great! I will be back to Captain White Seafood City they have the best deal.

Very small restaurant operation, sits next to its bigger fish hawking market. They don't offer anything fancy, you can get your cooked shrimp, raw oysters, and fried fish. Fish Sandwiches are 3-4 fillets with 3 slices of bread, "Dinner" includes fries. Tried the tilapia fish sandwich, flour breading is light and well seasoned. Only 3 fillets in this one, includes tartar, hot sauce, and cocktail sauce. Service can be slow on busy days but you know the food is fresh.

The restaurant use to be known for great service however the steady flow of business has caused them to forget about the basics of customer service. The longtime employees are pleasant and well informed. However the newer employees obviously show favorites. I hate it when someone walks up speaking Spanish and they receive quick friendly service and someone one speaking English is brusquely over looked. I was a customer of the Maine street location for years. I feel like if I am spending any dollar amount I should be treated with common courtesy. As a result I will not be spending anymore money with them.
