Best of what's around
There are plenty of over-priced, overly-Americanized Mexican restaurants in Northwest and all of them leave someone wanting authentic food entirely unimpressed. Casa Fiesta has the no frills atmosphere I come to expect from good Mexican places and delivers just what I have been looking for over the past year: simple, delicious food. The menu contains El Salvadorean foods (pupusas, Salvadorean tamales, etc) as well as the standard Mexican fare of burritos, tacos, and enchiladas. The beef tacos sport substantial pieces of well-seasoned meat rather than bland ground or cubed cuts, the refried beans are spot on, the enchilada sauces taste bold, and the pupusas are the best I've ever had. For Northwest the prices are downright cheap and it's quick too I sometimes call as I'm leaving work and pick it up less than 10 minutes later when I pass by. It's about three blocks from the Tenleytown metro stop (and Guapos) so if you're planning on getting Mexican in that area, do yourself a favor and get the real thing.
