Columbia Firehouse has a great atmosphere downstairs, as it is an old renovated firehouse (hence the name). With brick lined walls and a buzzing bar, the place feels alive with history. The dining room is nice and has white tablecloths, fitting for a bistro type feel. Upstairs, however feels extremely stuffy -- like a cruise ship ballroom. I prefer to eat downstairs if available. Be sure to make reservations! I came in at 5:30pm on a weekend and it was jam packed! We were lucky to get squeezed in downstairs. The food is great. I loved the chili and grilled cheese appetizer and the mussels. I had the three-cheese raviolis twice, but with different outcomes. The first time I had it it was heavenly. It was so rich with creamy cheese that I could hardly eat three ravioli. The second time the cheese tasted like typical ricotta stuffed ravioli, gritty and devoid of flavor. A disappointment. I suppose it is hit or miss. If you have room for dessert, the pear cobbler is nice along with some sauternes. This place is pricey, but reasonable enough considering the atmosphere and quality of food and service.
