Real Italian food -- done fantastically
The food, the food, the food. That's why you go to Cucina Vivace. The food is simply amazing. And authentic! Real Italian food is a rare find in the DC area. If you've been to Italy, prepare to be transported back with one bite of the Carciofi Fritti or the Agnello alla Griglia. The lamb (agnello) has got to be my favorite. The flavors are out of this world, and it's always cooked to perfection. You just have to get all four courses -- Italian style, of course! If there's a Chef's Menu available -- go for it. It's the best option. If not, a la carte ordering is great too. Start with the Polpetti di Pesci (fish meatballs? yes!), get the Gnocchi Vivace for your pasta course (don't think you like gnocchi? Think again!), and then the lamb. Finish with the chocolate crepes for dessert. And don't forget the wine... there are about 60 Italian wines to choose from. :) Ask for a suggestion. The staff's pretty helpful. The atmosphere is comfortable and intimate with candlelit tables. The chairs and even the banquette seating are comfortable for sitting for long periods... and you'll want to take your time here, trust me. If you have doubted DC's ability to put out fine Italian food, you need to try this place. You'll change your mind.
