    A definite secret

Two friends and I dined at the Del Merei Grill on Saturday nite. Saw the review here of 5 stars and felt a little skeptical that a Grill could measure up to that scale... But Let Me Tell You.. I have to agree with the other reviewer.. This establishment is a top of the line restaurant. To begin with - drinks at the bar were the best we've had in the area. I had a VCC and my friends had a martini and a vodka gimblet. They attested that their drinks were properly made and tasted better than any other bar we've had occasion to enjoy in the district or southern maryland. On to the restaurant. We had a reservation for 7pm. Would recommend anyone get a reservation. It's not large and fills up quickly. Of course the table was very clean and we had a bottle of wine and their "Plate" which included thier delicious fried pickles, deviled eggs and fried parmesan cheese with two tasty dips. Our first take of the fried pickles and they were to kill for.. just great. Onto the entrees - each of us had a different fare.. one a steak of the finest quality and preparation, the other grilled salmon coolked just to perfection and I had the striped bass special which was grilled and sided with grilled asparagus and mashed potatos. Needless to say the potatos were not of the instant variety often encountered in larger restaurants but totally natural and seasoned well for my tastes. The total meal was consumed with nothing but ahs and ummms, punctuated with comments about how the food was the best we've had and we'll be back. But desert, oh desert was a killer. I had the Bread Pudding, and in memory of my mom I must comment that I thought she was in the back in the kitchen. It was divine. The atmosphere in the grill is one of community and neighborhood. It's not a Large place but it is cozy and the staff is great. Chef Eric Reid, I had the pleasure of meeting. We all concur and loudly applaud this establishment is definitely a 5 star in all categories and is not to be m

    Gotta Love this Place

A group of us ate at the Del Merei twice in the last week (it was that good) - both nights the food and service was exceptional. Started out in the delightful bar and moved into the sophisticated dining room. Fabulous gumbo and frickles for appetizers - new seafood selections are outstanding, especially with the dill sauce - pecan crusted yellow snapper with crab was excellent - grilled asparagus was a hit with everyone - really appreciated the reasonably priced wine list, particularly the Miss Harry. I'm looking forward to my next dining experience at the Del Merei - you gotta love this place!
