Staff not pretentious...
At first the staff can appear to be pretentioius, but only because they hear the majority of customers asking for the "house red". Also, most of the customers do not understand the DOMESTIC ONLY theme, Grey Goose, Ketel One and Tanqueray are not domestic. Yes not enough bread comes with the cheese, but if you ask the staff is more than happy to get some more for you. The place has introduced a new and diversified menu and it's much better from the sound of the previous review. I found the atmosphere to be great. The bar was lively, the table area was more relaxed but still vibrant, the patio was closed because of rain, and I didn't have to watch out for unrestrained children. Compared to the other restaurants in the immediate area, the food, beer and liquor is better and not as pricey ($5 for a bacardi n coke). The wine is relative. The closest in quality of wine selection is probably Ardeo/Bardeo or Dino. The by the bottle prices are competitive with any other restaurant in DC. Enology even has bottles that are limited to the states, if you can find them anywhere else it's going to cost at least $90 more. Enology is the best thing to happen to Upper NW in a long time! Unfortunately the parking situation is not great, but it's DC, learn to walk. Also, brunch on Saturdays and Sundays just started. At the worst it'll be a change of scenerey.

More pretentious than this review
The duck salad was oddly salty, like a canned sardine, almost to the point of being inedible. The fennel mandarin salad was bland. The waiter seemed knowledgeable, but was pretentious. The wine list was almost exhaustive, but there were bizarre omissions of major varietals. The cheese platter came with an inadequate amount of bread and we were charged for the additional amount that we asked for. The bread was mediocre. The location is excellent and the outdoor seating area is nice, but the atmosphere of Enology is not. After two glasses of wine and the aforementioned salads and cheese, we walked away hungry and dissatisfied with 75 less dollars to our names. The opposite of value.
