I gave Hampden Cafe a try for lunch this afternoon for the first time. The first menu board you see when you come in is for the coffee drinks, which I didn't try. (I only noted that a small mocha looked like it cost $3.75 or so while a large was over $4.) As you walk to the right, you see the area where you order actual food and can grab your tray. The staff seemed friendly, but appeared to all speak English as a second language. One woman was carving off chunks of fresh, hot turkey and offering us samples to taste. It was excellent, but at the same time felt a bit awkward - as the samples weren't even placed in small cups or on paper plates first. She was just handing people wads of meat! I went with a sandwich, chips and a drink (and they gave me a free dill pickle spear). Thought it was a bit too expensive at over $13, but it was all tasty. My final complaint was discovering just before leaving that I was mistakenly charged $9 or so in sales tax. The manager (or owner? not sure) was quick to correct it for me, but only after anther employee seemed unwilling or unable to help me with it. All in all? Not sure I'd go back - but the food itself was good.
