    food better than service

Like all such places the bagels are quite mediocre, something I'll never understand. But otherwise the food has been as good as or better than hoped. I especially like that the fish platters include capers, olives and swiss. But on recent takeout orders they omitted the cheese on a pricey specialty sandwich and the mustard for the pastrami. I don't want to be that guy who unwraps each item in the store to check so I really hope they improve. I also don't understand while simple orders take 20 minutes even when there are no signs of other customers waiting on food.

    Good Start

The pastrami sandwich was large and very good. The spicing could have had a touch more kick for my taste. What wasn't bark was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The small portion of cole slaw was just so-so and forgettable. A slice of in-house strawberry cheesecake was excellent and light. The staff was great and very friendly. A good start for being open only a short time. Recommended.

    pastrami review

Ordered in evening, took quite a while. Thick cut, obviously heated in pan or oven not microwave. Wasn't exactly charred or crisp but it was facing that direction which is ideal by me. As for the spicing not my favorite style. I prefer lots of visible black pepper spilling all over the place in a big gooey mess. This pastrami was timid by comparison. Sandwich was big enough to justify the price. Came with a proper pickle in the wrapper and a side of complimentary slaw which was decent, not too mayonnaisey.
