Such a great place
I found “the Indian experience” restaurant as a great place for lunch and dinner. When my friend and I were visiting last month to have lunch, we really liked it, very delicious foods and wonderful services and not expensive either. Very affordable.

Very good food at dinner buffet
I went to dinner on a Wednesday night and the buffet had a decent selection of very nicely prepared dishes. Mostly vegetarian, and some exquisitely flavored (and others about average or a bit better). Fresh naan is part of the buffet, and was good. Service was very good, and the atmosphere is nice with wood and nice tablecloths. The dinner buffet is currently $16, w/tax that's $17.60. This seems a little expensive, but perhaps not for dinner and in downtown DC near the White House. Overall a very nice experience; I would certainly be willing to return.

Bollywood Nights
I went to The Indian Experience last friday for dinner. It was a wonderfull experience, shocked to see the bollywood dancing and singing which was Bombay's culture happened to be a hit in DC. The food was authentic and one of the better Indian restaurants i have been to in DC metropolitan area. I would recommend this place if you want good Indian food with entertainment.

Mudra dancing
The excitement of seeing live traditional Indian dancing was amazing. The dancers were not only beautiful they were amazingly talented. We were captivated by the dancers ability to balance swords and fire while dancing. This is a place to go on Friday night to experience something different then the day to day.

A charming Indian Experience
Walking down the long stair case into the Indian Experience there are many questions that filled my mind. Is this going to be a typical Indian buffett, will I even like the food and the atmosphere? All those questions were dissolved when greated by the friendly staff who offer the option of sitting in the loung section filled with comfortable couches or the more formal dinning room. The classy atmosphere and friendly staff is unlike any typical buffett I have ever experienced. The food is very nice and diverse with many vegitarian options.

I love this place!
Their buffet is great, the service is way better than you'd normally expect for a buffet, and I really like the 1950's wood-paneling-in-the-basement atmosphere. They've also swapped from normal chairs and tables to couches (upholstered chairs) and tables and that makes it more interesting. If you don't have enough time for a sit-down, their take out place (adjacent on the street) has great Indian food too.
