Ordinary Thai Food
I had lunch two times at Kanlaya. For my first meal I chose a daily special and it was pretty good and at a fair price. The second time I went for lunch and ordered, more or less experimentally, from the menu. I could not eat the noodles - they were tough and chewy and their aroma was not appetizing.

Past it's Prime
This was a return trip to a restaurant I have frequented since it's opening, but have seen the food quality go steadily down hill. A high turn-over ratio of head cooks, I'm sure, dosen't help.

nice surprise
good thai, though i didn't love my main dish. my friends' entrees were really really good. kanlaya is nice because it's relatively cheap, clean, and you can get good food if you choose well.

Best Thai find in DC!
In a city that isn't known for great Thai food, Kanlaya is a real standout. It isn't cheap, but a meal here won't break the bank either. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The food is delicious! There is an impressive vegetarian selection, which is great-- several entire pages of veggie appetizers, soups, noodles, and main dishes. Also, Kanlaya has the best mangos and sticky rice I've ever eaten outside of Thailand. YUM!
