    lunch time heaven

I alway suggest to my lunch crew "let's go to the spot". Now I try not to over do it but, we go at least once a month. The strawberry cake just melts in my mouth!

Felt I was part of the family.

I had many friends who had eaten here and raved about the food. I used to Louisiana/Texas barbecue. This was North Carolina. It looked different, but it was delicious. The person managing the restaurant came and sat with us and talked about his food and how the recipes came to being. It was fun. I would definitely recommend anyone going there. It isn't very far from the new baseball stadium. It is just a couple of blocks from the naval yards. It is worth the walk.

    It's like eating with family

Levi's Port Cafe is a good down home place to gather. It's the kind of place that makes you want to stay and chat around the table even when the food is done. You feel like you're among family (the members that you are fond of). Come join me. I'm there a few times a month.

    Honest food, true hospitality!

We showed up with a group of 10 at 6:30, totally unexpected. They were short on waitstaff but the owner, Johnny, quickly hustled to take our orders with a smile and good humor. Everything we ordered was delicious and true home cooking. Carolina BBQ, chicken and ribs were the best as were all the sides. Definitely save room for the home made cakes and cobblers. I'm a New Yorker but if I lived in DC I'd be here several times a week. Thank you Johnny for being such a gracious host, you're the best. Whenever I'm in DC, I'll be sure to stop in!

    Simply the Best

This is the best North Carolina bbq outside of the state itself. You'll love the sides and the ribs are amazing as well. Definitely get two glasses full of the sweet tea. Its just like Grandma used to make.
