I was walking down 14th Street last night and decided to try one of the new restaurants, "Lupe Verde". I walked in and I was really impressed with the ambience. Such a nice looking restaurant. The hostess was so nice and seated the two of us right away. We sat at a nice table and the waiter came right away. Both him and the busboys were very attentive. I asked for a recommendation and he said the black ink pasta with seafood in saffron sauce was great. The first thing we got was the homemade bread and olive oil and that was very good. Next we received our appetizer. Lightly fried artichoke. It was ok, not much flavor. We then received our entrees- the lasagna and the seafood pasta. The lasagna was so overcooked and dry with hardly any tomato sauce. The pasta just tasted burnt and had only a little seafood. The manager came by and asked how food was. My friend said the lasagna was overcooked, dry and had no flavor. He apologized. I said mine was fine even though it wasn't. I actually felt bad for the non-kitchen staff because they tried, but ultimately they can't prepare the food. The restaurant may need a new chef. I am going to give the place a second chance because everything but the food was wonderful. It may have been our two entrees.
