Great Place
Magic Gourd is an awesome place! Frank the owner is there every day and stops at nothing to satisfy his customers. Charlie the bartender is fantastic. I've been going regularly to the restaurant for 15 years and I cannot say more wonderful things about the place! The food is excellent and always satisfying!

great first-visit experience
We ate here in September, the first time I visited D.C. Great food and overall experience. Would def recomend to anyone in the erea or visiting.

Great Chinese Food Option in FoggyBottom
About a 10 minute walk from Foggy Bottom Metro. Inside a plaza. Service and atmosphere was great. Very friendly staff. Food was very good. Won Ton soup and Egg Rolls were great appetizers. General Tso Chicken was very tasty.

Magic Gourd Made Me Sad and Scared
I read all the great reviews and was really excited to order from Magic Gourd. I'll start off with the positives. The lo mein was garlicy and greasy (after all you expect grease with lo mein), the delivery was fast and the food was hot. On to the negatives. The lo mein was greasy (ok, I know that is also a positive) and I don't feel so hot right now. The bigger concern, I ordered shrimp lo mein. In my greasy ball of noodles I found what I can only describe as an animal part, vertibrae (forgive the spelling, I am not a doctor) and some skin and other unappetizing bits hanging off it. Find this little "treasure" kinda ruined the rest of my meal. I also ordered the vegetable dumplings, which were exactly what you would expect, but when I came across something crunchy in them, I was grossed out again (I think it was probably a water chestnut or something, but all I could think of was the animal course). Magic Gourd has a happy name and fast delivery, however, I wont be ordering any more from it.

Everything I Have Ordered is Great
I started ordering from this place online about a month ago and am hooked. I've ordered about four different dishes (general tso, crispy beef, mongalian beef, hunan beef) all the dishes are about 11 dollars or less and are all a cut above all the other chinese takeout services. They also come to my place in foggy bottom in about half the time it takes other places (like 20 minutes).

Fast delivery; pleasantly surprised
Shrimp lo mein was loaded with fresh-tasting shrimp; duck special was tender, tasty and a good deal for $9.95. Fast delivery!

Great Place to Eat
This is a really great place to go for dinner. It is kind of quiet. The wait staff is very friendly.
