For those of you who are like me, young professionals looking to get out with your friends, meet a few new faces, grab a few rounds of brews and teeter on the brink of inebriation - McFaddens is always a good choice. I've been there for St. Patty's Day, Weekend Nights, & Thursday Happy Hours and I've never been disappointed. It reminds me of my favorite college bar (Cafe 210 for you Penn Staters), a few bars to choose from, open space, a good mix of people, a relaxed happy hour atmosphere that turns into a party as more people roll in, the DJ brings up the energy of the music & sobriety teeters). One of the best things about this bar is how big it is - in comparison to the cramped corner bars, there's 2 bars downstairs and one upstairs away from the crowd. The beer [select]ion is decent for the post-collegiate palate, the food is good, and the scene is perfect for a relaxed night out in jeans & tees (though some is bound to be glittered up). All in all, it's a fun atmosphere - they usually have a DJ on the weekends so you don't have to put up with the loaded 22 year old who just put $20 worth of back to back to back Journey & ACDC songs into the jukebox - though you can rest assured they will get some air time. There are bound to be liquor/beer sponsors stopping by with tees, coupons, and other promotions. If the game is on, there are a bunch of TVs (standing room only for 'skins games), and even a few booths with individual TVs if you get there early & your own team is playing. There's also a lounge area with leather sofas, booths & tables to watch the big games on the big screens. Specials right now (Sept 2008): College Tues - College ID get s $1 Beers, $2 Jello Shots, & $5 jagerbomb. 1/2 Price Happy Hour Wed - 1/2 off happy hr menu & drinks Tropical Thurs - $2 Corona & Corona Lights Mardi Gras Friday - $2 Bud & Bud Lights Saturdays are usually random events & drink specials. Also if you sign up to win a happy hour, at least 1 in your group of 5 should win a 2-hour $10 open-bar (beer & rail drinks). If you haven't been here yet, come on out and see for yourself.
