    Good Food and Drink

I had passed by this place a few times while walking to the Potomac Ave. Metro. There never seemed to be anyone inside so I thought that was not a good sign. One night I ventured in with a friend and was very pleasantly surprised. I'm a fan of La Lomita, and this place is just as good. The service was good, margaritas were tasty, and the food was spot on. This is a great neighborhood Mexican restaurant and one I would travel out of Maryland to dine at. It's close enough and features authentic flavors. The only down side is the restaurant is large, which always makes it appear that it's empty. It feels a little cavernous inside. They could probably suffice with half the space. That would give it a more neighborhoody feel. But, it's nicely decorated and clean. I think the salsa at La Lomita is a bit better, but Mi Vecindad's salsa was good too. I will recommend this restaurant to friends. I think it's a new place and I hope they make it.

Great Addition to Capitol Hill East

We have known Henry for 20 years and were early patrons of La Lomita. We have loved La Plaza and were excited about Mi Vecindad opening next to Fragers. The ceviche blew us away--the flavors were so refreshing and the dish served 4 of us easily. There were lots of new dishes on the menu to try: we had the Lenguada Primavera which was a beautiful as it was tasty. We also had the Maduros (fried plantains)--which were exceptionally tasty! Margaritas and salsa were great. Who needs 8th Street?!
