After being going to Minerva for quite some time and catering last May, we were so disappointed last night. The empty dining room did not give us better service, as we had to ask twice to get more water. the waiter borderline impolite did not make our experience better. But at least we were anxious to get our food and here another BIG disappointment. Our tandoori chicken was sour and tasted like old. The shrimp dish who was supposed to be creamy with almond and spice tasted ''hot spicy'' which we like, but with no other taste at all, and they used the tiny shrimp that you use when you go fishing. the rice tasted blend only the roti (bread) was good. Only a few months ago could we get ''a la carte'' or for $2 more I think you could get a range of side dishes, obviously they also changed that formule. the shrimp used to be medium size and crunchy not the tiny soft little things they served. I do not know what happened but we are not going back.

They get the star because the food was good - not the best in Fairfax, but ok. The waitress was rude. The four of us were shown to a table which was set for two. We asked for two more glasses of water and two sets of cutlery. The woman appeared insulted and slammed them on the table. But the real reason for the bad review is this: the waiter lost my credit card. He took it and then came back and asked for it. He said, oh yeah and ran off again. Then came back and asked for my card a third time. Turns out he had lost it. After more than half an hour of searching, I reported it stolen. He still asked me to pay the bill - despite the fact that most of it was covered by a Living Social voucher.

We went here on a recommendation from friends in Richmond, VA. It was mothers day and they were hosting a buffet... the ambience of the place is terrible for a proper Indian restaurant... too many tables.. too many people - come on you have to focus on how a place feels to really enjoy food there.... the food was OK... great variety for non veggies lovers...

Minerva offers good standard fare at a reasonable price. Clean atmosphere, competent, accessible staff. If you don't like your naan dried out, recommend ordering from the menu.
