Oohhs & Aahhs Soul Food
Posted by Soul Food Lover on 07/12/2006
Being from the deep south and living there all my life, when I came to the city I am in constant search of food that reminds me of home. The food here was not bad, but it was not great either. I must say that the food is well seasoned; which is a plus. But the food was just not there. The lady in there was really nice, which made up for the drab atmosphere (definitely not some place to have a romantic dinner). Well there's my two cents for what it's worth.

Girl from the deep south giving her opinion here for all it's worth. The food was excellent. I was a bit disappointed that the fried chicken was wings and you couldn't pick other parts, but it was tasty. The yams, collards, and mac-n-cheese were the best I've had up here. Seems people up here are used to speedy sterile service..and if that's what you want... don't come here (or any other true southern/soul food joint). Good food takes a while and the greasy film is part of the charm. Only a couple of tables upstairs and 4-5 stools offer seating. Tons of food and real atmosphere. Thumbs up!
