Not sure if I'll go back...

Well, it wasn't good and it wasn't bad. I had a spinach dip which we asked for with flatbread (instead it came with homemade chips). But the chips were delicious actually! The dip is a little mayonnaise-y so beware. I also had a mushroom leek pizza which had a nice thin crust that I enjoyed. Coffee was good too. Overall not bad, good, but not great. I might be back to check out breakfast.

    Never got my food

Nice looking place on the outside but never got my food. Ordered foor 1.5 hours later the people bringing out food asked if we had ordered food. Food then started coming out one plate at a time after 2 hours I told them to foget about it. They did take my meal off the bill but the server actually had the gaul to put 20% tip added to the bill. I could understand if they were slammed but we got a seat immediately. No manager ever checked on us or offered any explination. My friends made me a plate from theirs otherwise I would have not eaten at all.

    Breakfast at the right price

French toast is deserving of mention. Coffee was bold and piping hot served with animal crackers. Give it a try.

    Solid food and good beer

I'm glad to find a place nearby that has a good beer selection. They don't have a lot of options on tap, but they're good. de Koninck is an example. And the food is great, sort of nouveau American comfort food. Reminds me of Bubby's in New York City.

Don't eat breakfast on the patio

In the sun. They don't have enough umbrellas and they opened one, then moved it so my 80 year old mother was in the sun. We got out of there asap, but the waiter made a face when I asked for the bill since he hadn't come around when we needed him.

Excellent, kept me alive for a week

I recently stayed at the Hotel accross the street (OMNI) for a training conference and I ate at the "Open City" at least once a day. It was hard to try anything else when I had such success there. Great atmosphere, great crowd, good cold beer and ATM inside to boot. The meatball pizza is a must try making my mouth water now. I will make a special trip there when I return (from Ca.) with the whole family some day.

Not Recommended for Food or Service

This place tries to be too much. The one positive is it's open pretty late in an area that closes somewhat early. However, the food is not very good, prices are way too high for what you get and the service is usually subpar here. While the sweets look good in the display, they are quite dry and the coffee tastes so acidic.
