Dim Sum by the Cartload
The Oriental East does a great job of hiding in a Silver Spring shopping center, but that also allows for lots of parking. What you're doing at this restaurant is going for the dim sum, served daily. If you're going on a weekend, appear at the door a little before the opening at 11 AM, which is when the regulars appear. The place can get crowded. The staff wheel carts full of various tastes by, and you grab a basket, or two or three, or wait for the next cart, or the cart after that. Since there might be a language difficulty and dishes aren't labelled, sometimes what you [select] may be a little surprising. But don't worry: you'll like it. Oh yes, really authentic teas are offered too, and you may find yourself staring at a flower or two in the pot. As a Chinese friend mentioned, this is the best dim sum in the area, and the Oriental East boasts the crowds. to prove it.

Yummm, Dim Sum!!!
The Dim Sum is fabulous. The wait long (for most it was about 20 minutes. Two other couples agreed to share an eight person table so we got in quicker. Sharing a table just added to the fun for us. The food is really good and well worth the wait. We went around 1:30 on a Saturday. They deserve the folowing they have.
