Now on our favorites list
My wife & I visited for the first time today, for Sunday lunch. We were in the mood for dim sum, which we usually get Canton (cart) style since we're used to that from dining in Guangzhou. OG, though, is Shanghai/Taiwan style, from a checklist. That turned out to be an advantage, as the six dishes we ordered were all nice & hot. We liked every one of them, very much, from "Eight Treasure Mashed Taro Roots" (sweet) to "Stir Fried Small Fish & Peanuts" (very spicy, with fresh green chillies). Even the tea we got (jasmine) was unusually good for a Chinese restaurant (and we're quite fussy about tea--we've trashed other restaurants in reviews for blowing this one). The service was simply excellent (the place was almost empty), with water refills, tea refills, and the check all showing up at precisely the right times without our indicating in any way. Our waiter kept us informed about the progress of the six dishes (which came out in three batches, not far apart). The maƮtre d' (seemed like the owner) came by several times, without being intrusive, to explain things, and was pleasant without being obsequious (though, I suppose in Chinese style, he never looked at my Chinese wife :-). We spent $31.34 plus tip, and considered this very reasonable. This is going to be a frequent spot for us, we suspect, though we need to try the regular menu before being certain.

Great Chinese!
Absolutely the best Chinese for the price. I've ordered approx once a week for three years; they've never gotten my order wrongt! The service is friendly, the food ready quickly. Definitely recommend!

What a neighborhood treasure!
We have been eating at Oriental Gourmet since it opened, and it continues to be our go-to Chinese restaurant. The food is excellent, the hosts and servers are attentive, friendly, and always remember you...and the price is right. Several dishes are among our favorites, including beef with black bean sauce, fire crispy shrimp, and a chicken "proper" like Peking Gourmet's beef. Try it!

Tofu-veggie soup
Love their Tofu-veggie soup, but you have to make sure to specify no chicken broth. It is tasty w/ tofu, tomato, water chestnug and greens. Great for winter colds. Other fave: Vegarian Orange "Chicken" - great flavor and texture.

Umm umm good.
I can't say I've ordered a wide variety of things from their menu, but I can say that the shredded beef is delicious! I noticed that they have two menus, one standard menu and one "traditional" menu. I'm going to have to give the traditional fare a try.
