    One of the best

You're generally best off sticking with what the Palm does best--steaks dishes and some of the seafood will always treat you right. May I recommend the soft shell crabs (either fried or sauteed) or my personal favorite the Blackened Ribeye over Ceasar Salad. Sure the place is expensive and at times unnecessarily so, but the atmosphere and waiters are top notch, and you can always get a great lunch for under $15.

    Ruined a special event

My friend and I share a birthday lunch every year at Christmastime. This year I chose the Palm because my parents think it is such a special place. I made reservations on OpenTable for 1130a.m. We were made to wait about 15 minutes before being lead to a table right outside the kitchen door. We were the only patrons at that time. ?? In my reservation I had requested a table far from any noise. When I asked why that table ? when I had made a special request for a quiet section of the restaurant, the Maitre d' said he hadn't looked at today's reservation list yet. Did he have something better to do? Once seated I dusted the cigar ashes off the white tablecloth and we placed our orders. My filet mignon was phenomenal, but my friend's chicken-something was buried under the biggest slab of sauteed eggplant I've ever seen...it was downright ugly. And the chicken was dry, cool to the touch, and obviously cooked hours ago. She sent it back and I was paying the bill by the time her food was returned. The waitress looked offended when we asked for a carry out container. My friend had to park in the parking garage because the Palm valet wasn't on duty when the restaurant opened. She asked the Maitre'd' to validate her parking ticket as we were leaving and he refused. When she explained why she had to use the garage, he offered to give her 2 dollars out of his pocket to cover the charges, "it's only 2 dollars!". She was so offended she walked out. Saddest part is that most of my job is devoted to arranging dining events for visiting government personnel and I will never recommend the Palm at Tyson's.

You get what you pay for

The prices are quite steep but you are getting your money's worth. The beef is out of this world, the seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection and even the $10 (?) asparagus was terrific. I would not recommend this place for a quick bite or something to chow down but if you need somewhere to take a special person or to celebrate a key event- THIS is the place!
