this is the the best restaurant in the world. BECAUSE you have to compare quality and price.

    "Dismal" Place

I know, I know - it is a favorite of many locals, and it is inexpensive. I just find the food wretched - the same tomato sauce straight out of a can on anything you order - chicken with tomato sauce, veal with tomato sauce, sausage with tomato sauce ...UGH. No plain grilled fish or chicken. I found the Washington Post review from 13 years ago that called the food "dismal" and the restaurant apparently hasn't gotten the message yet.

    Best White Pizza ever

I have been coming to the Pines for 30 years, i.e., before the restaurant revolution in Bethesda. I still come today because the food is so, so good and the value is terrific. You must get the white pizza, with fontina. Out of this world. I agree that the eggplant parm is superb. Veal dishes are good, too, as is the shrimp with butter and garlic. In season, don't miss the soft shell crabs!

One of the best for value in B'town. Great staff and casual atmosphere make it a favorite for those looking for a great meal at a friendly place. Hit the eggplant parm for a never fail, full belly experience. Not for the snobbish.

    Been going there for years

Get the white pizza for an appetizer or meal. Great value, prices have barely gone up since I've been going there.
