This is a hidden gem in Old Town alexandria, tucked a few streets behind all the hub-bub of King Street. Very reasonably priced, this small restaurant gets packed the later in the evening you go. Aim for 5-6:30ish. Always a winner, get the babaganouj. Forego the hummus -- you can get that anywhere. But the babganouj is great! We tried the mix appetizer platter with falafels and a strange meat dumpling. I don't think I'll get either again. Stick to what I know! I always get the chicken schwarma sandwich -- a great value for a great sandwich, and there are always leftovers! There is also an outstanding lamb dish with the most intriguing rice mountain I've ever eaten. It has a secret flavor that the staff wouldn't share with us, but it is a sort of cinnamon rice -- very authentic! Wine is affordable and the service is friendly. Definitely go here to get away from all the tourists and enjoy a good wholesome meal.

I live in Old Town and I have to go to the Pita House atleast once a week! The baba ghanouj is the best I've ever tasted and the rest of the menu items have not disappointed yet. The location is small but charming a few blocks over from King Street and the service is fast and friendly, eat-in or take-out. It's a tad pricey (lunch around $8) but it's always been worth it!
