    Very fine dining experience

I don't usually write reviews. My daughter recommended this restaurant so we decided to visit today while celebrating family visiting the area. But, after visiting Rasika's for lunch today, I returned home and noticed I had left this webpage open so looked at other reviews to see how they compared with our experience.. Bottom line, this is a very nice restaurant to take special guests. The food was very well prepared with subtle blend of flavors. We like to share dishes family style and had wonderful fish, chicken, lamb and vegetarian dishes. The bread was an excellent item including one cooked with onions and peppers. Cumin, mint, yogurt, pepper - all the other special ingredients one expects in Indian food but often finds either overpowering or just missing in weaker restaurants. Wish I could recall the names of the dishes but daughter ordered and I just enjoyed eating and family. The door greeter instantly saw we had a newborn baby and offered us one of the two tables up near window that offered bench type seat for the infant carrier which was very nice as baby later decided it wanted Mom to feed her. Such quick thinking also put the baby in one area away from most other customers - just in case baby decided to cry is my guess. The young lady who took our order and helped us was professional while also friendly. Excellent service Our total bill was about 135.00 for five for lunch including tea and cola and generous tip. Excellent value for the food and service. I noticed some kind of hot food cooking area in rear of restaurant where a chef was cooking for people sitting at that food bar and the very comfortable exchange between the chef and the six customers showed they were enjoying his skills and food. Will want to explore that in some future visit without infant. I would return to Rasika's again and recommend them.

    Excellent

I was visiting DC for the weekend and my friends there wanted to get some Indian food. None of us had been to Rasika it was a fantastic meal. The food was great the wine was good the crowd/atmosphere was nice! We had three appetizers- all excellent (eggplant, palak chaat, and seehk kabob) and then five entrees- all excellent (chicken makani, roganjosh, eggplant, dal makani, and masala shrimp- sorry about spelling errors). There were 7 of us, with all that food (including breads, yogart, and rices) and three bottles of wine, we paid $75 each- not bad to me! I highly recommend checking this place out!!

    Rasika Indian Restaurant

Greeters at the door should be more pleasant rather than looking exhausted! Atmoshere is okay, nothing to write home about. Food is poor to average, great way to fool and rip off the washington DC crowd. Indique is a far superior restuarant with a superior menu rather than the make believe fusion foolishness. Food is pricey and lacks the tasteful quality. Service lacks quality and there is too much confusion and interference from the host desk. Too much micro management.

    Nirvana in culinary delight

What a wonderful experience it was to celebrate someone's (very special person) birtthday at a perfect place. I rated the restaurant with three perfect scores except, 'atmosphere' because of little higher noise level that I can tolerate, though the decor is delightful with ochre walls and other motifs. I grew up in Lucknow, India ..which is considered to be the 'culinary' high ground for foodies and I have tasted all the dishes that I ordered in Lucknow style of cooking. These dishes were prepared and served in a perfect manner. What we ordered from the menu were these dishes : palak chat, potatoe chat, lamb sheesh kabab, lamb rogen josh, veggie byryani, dal and assorted bread with yogurt raita. Malbec and Souvignon Blanc were my choices of wines. I can attest with confidence that every dish was just delightfull to the pallate, with the right balance of spices and taste..and was served in perfect white china dishes by very attentive waiters. I wish Rasika a roaring success in DC...and hope they will consider opening one in Manhattan, NYC, where I live.
