nothing special
I don't understand the hype. The meat doesn't have any taste. By the time your halfway through the burger the bun is soaked in grease. The sides are boring and unhealthy. I guess you could say it's better than generic fast food chains' burgers.

LOVE this place
As a long time Ray's fanatic, I've been going to this place since it first opened and absolutely LOVE it. The burgers have endless possibilities, and I love the no-frills atmosphere - it keeps prices low. One time when I was there, Michael Landrum (the owner and the god of beef if you ask me) stopped by to ask how I liked it. It says a lot that he spends time around Hellburger even when its not his most upscale restaurant. My only fear is that now that Obama has put it on the radar it'll get really crowded making it impossible to go.

Great and affordable!
Pros: a wide variety of toppings (including sherried mushrooms, grilled onions, and gourmet cheeses), tasty (grilled) LARGE burgers, standard burger $10 or under (depending on what kind of cheese you want) Cons: crowded, lack of variety when it comes to sides, bland mac & cheese, DRY buns, cash only I enjoy it very much and have revisted it a few times. The pros definitely outweigh the cons, so it's definitely worth trying AND bringing your friends. Just make sure someone can lock down a table because it's very small inside.

Not Bad Ray
A bit crowded but the burgers were great. I think they should offer more sides. When I went the only side they had were chips.

Not yet gourmet
Preface: Yes, this is a new restaurant so there are many kinks to work out. selection of toppings is great (grilled red onion, mushrooms in a red wine sauce, and gruyere are some of the gourmet flourishes). Not only do you get toppings, but you can also have the burger prepared au poivre and a few other ways. The best part is that they grill the burger! You get an enormous burger with half an ear of corn and a slice of watermelon. The burger can cost over $10 depending what you put on it. The burger will fill you up. The only real complaints that I had was that the pickles were awful. The bun was dry with too many sesame seeds. Give this place time and everything will be great, like Ray's the Steaks near by.
