    2-Star Service at 5-Star Price

Went here for a Thursday birthday dinner for my girlfriend (3/12/09). Great table, good space and everyone was very nice. The best part of the evening was over after sitting at our table. We started with the Oysters which were not cleaned at all and were simply okay for $20/6. Our waitress was new, visibly shaky, didn't know the menu, and inexperienced. Rather shocked that she was in charge of the table by herself, instead of shadowing a more accomplished server. The somolier was very helpful in picking a decent Barolo for $85. She was great! We ordered the ox tail ravioli and the steak tartare (the star of the evening) as apps with the Ribeye in a mushroom sauce and the special Ahi Tuna as entrees; both simply average. Dinner was slow, erratic and awkward at times. Our waitress was absent and received much support when not able to handle our table. The ribeye was tough even though we ordered it rare with a push. There was a 20-minute pause between the end of dinner, then dessert, then getting the check. Also frustrating was the fact that the staff paid little attention to refill our wine glasses as they neared their repective bottoms, even though they were thoughtful enough to decant the bottle. I wound up refilling the wine glasses each time. Surprising considering there was ample staff throughout the night. We expectedd to be enamored by this great little restaurant, as it was given such high marks by friends. I would like to give it another try, but feel as though we overpaid for a very subpar experience. Grade: extremely disappointing due to service, overpriced due to service, and overall experience disappointing due to all listed above. Lowest tip left in 10 years and fully justified. Tips are still for good service, correct?

    Classic Elegancy!

This restaurant is magnificent. The food is excellent and the service is superb. The atmosphere, however, is my favorite part. The restaurant pulls of classic elegance without being stuffy and dry.
