It was my daughter's 30th birthday. It was New Year's Eve. She could not have chosen better than Rogue 24. Each item on the 16 course sampling menu offered a new surprise of texture, flavor and presentation. From the sweet romaine with its velvety smooth 67 degree aracona egg emulsion with garlic and trout roe, to the venison surrounded with squash oatmeal and huckleberry, each course brought farm, forest or the sea right to the table. The most exotic surprise was the penn clam, served in a special dish, the center of which held an aromatic blend of herb-infused tea to be inhaled before biting into the sweet, smooth clam. The wine pairings were exquisite, and the staff presentation of each course and each wine was engaging and informative. In fact the interaction of the servers and the chef with our dinner party made the evening even more special than it was.
