What a Disappointment
A friend recommended the Russia House and we went with a group of 6 people, all who are very well-traveled and 3 who are in the business. I love small, authentic "weathered" places but not when the service, drinks and prices miss the mark. The drinks were no better than any of 10,000 random so-so chain bars or pubs anywhere else except for one infusion, which was nice. The vodka list is impressive, but the bartenders and servers are sloppy, semi-attentive, and again... no better or worse than server and bartenders anywhere else. It was hot, crowded, and nothing really stood out as being amazing. Maybe its a good place when there are 6 people in the lounge, but for us, it was not good. We didn't evern finish our drinks, they were that poor. We ordered a "Martini with No Olives" that came with olives and was borderline warm, "a beer with a glass" that came with no glass, and an "infused vodka and soda with no fruit" that came with a brownish lime.

Really Excellent
I am going to have to respectively disagree with the other review here. I have been going to this place for three years and it never fails to amaze me. Mostly, it has this sort of "ye old royal Russia" feel that makes it ooze sophistication; the way everything is presented is simply lovely. The quality of the drinks, ambience and the food (especially the food) are all bar none. If you like meat, this place is the epitome of awesome tasting animals. I'm from New York and have had my share of filet mignon but Russia House has the best filet mignon EVER. Also, the vodka (and all of its permutations) are wonderful. It's all a bit expensive but you definitely get what you pay for- a fabulous dining experience.

Way Over Rated
The Russia House: At first seems like a cool place to meet friends for a drink and possibly enjoy dinner. However I would not recommend it. I've been to many restaurants and lounges in DC and thought the Russia House was way over rated. Drinks are over priced along with a small menu which is way over priced for what you are actually getting. I think it used to be looked at as a trendy place to go but I've noticed the crowds getting smaller and the last time I was there I ran into men wearing sweat pants and woman in t-shirts and flip flops??
