It took me about two years to finally venture into The South China and I lived only three blocks away. The restaurant looks like an orphan with little on either side, it's an interesting shade of hallucinogenic blue with some neon, and the interior is stark. Stark, as in naked light bulbs. A great staff, trying to meld Malaysian and Chinese cuisine and this leads to the same odd but wonderful twists I've tasted with Cuban-Chinese dishes. Giant portions, inexpensive, a wonderful staff, and restful. My favorites are the ma po bean curd and mu shi vegetables, and to cease sounding like a vegetarian, their roast pork with bean sprouts. It's worth a try, and you may get to sample some unique Malay-Chinese specials.

This does not look like much from the outside and the inside is clean, but that's about all you can say for the decor. But the food is excellent, prices are good and the people very, very nice. They are Chinese Malaysians and can do both cuisines very well. We go here a lot and we order from them as well. Definitely one of the best spots in Del Ray.

I love this place! I have never actually eaten in the restaurant, but I have been ordering delivery from them for the past 6 years. My husband and I are vegetarians, so I can't comment on the meat entrees, but all the vegetarian entrees we have ordered have always been excellent. My favorite if the General Tso Bean Curd. The portion sizes allow us to get at least 2-3 meals EACH out of each order. They do not charge for delivery, and they usually give us an order of spring rolls for free. Even when we moved outside of their delivery area 4 years ago, they continued to deliver to us at no extra charge. They always remember us, asking us about our daughter and our dog, and they could not be nicer.
