I love the family environment and portions are more than enough.

We drove up to D.C. today for a lunch date and was looking for an Ethiopian restaurant but then came across this West African Restaurant. The ginger beer was amazing! It definitely soothed the pallette after trying all the amazing samples on the sample platter (not on the menu). We decided on Cassava with beef (that you easily cut with a plastic knife) and the peanut butter with fish! Wow!! Don't let the atmosphere fool you...we will be back again and again!!!

I lived in Cameroon for 2 years and enjoyed the traditional food there. Sumah's was like eating in Cameroon again. I enjoyed the Cassava and chicken and Peanut sauce. Delicious.

There was a good selection of foods to choose from and it came in a very filling quantity. Their ginger beer was especially tasty. The servers were very helpful in selecting what to eat and were also extremely pleasant to talk to. The decor was simple and a bit thrown together, but the food and service made up for that! I hope to go again

A friend showed this to me the other day. As the other reviewers would have said, the food is absolutely incredible. I tried everything (they can give you a sample platter) and took about 10 minutes to decide. Everything is rich and flavorful When the food arrives, it's plentiful - I've gotten two meals out of it and still have leftovers! The atmosphere is also amazing, true hospitality and an incredibly relaxed vibe. Definitely a highlight!

I have been in DC for a while now (over 2yrs) and all this while have been looking for Sierra Leone Delicacies! Not untill i ventured into Sumah's and waoh! Reminded me of Sweet Salone! Just like i wanted it plus Ginger Beer that was either imported from Sierra Leone (so original!) or was done by an expert! Its my African Hideout going fwd as lond as i am in DC. Kudos to the owners and staff.
