I had the lunch box, sitting at the bar. The california roll was quite good, but the chicken teriyaki was just ok. Tip included, I paid something like 15 bucks. In sum, not bad, but I wouldn´t call it excellent.

Stopped here on lunch, had a taste for really great Sushi...read a review that said it was THE best sushi in DC...IT WASN'T! It was just average - it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. Spicy Tuna wasn't spicy, nor was the grade of fish good. The rice was really sticky and the Rainbow Roll left a lot to be desired. Endo Sushi in Arlington, VA or Sushi King in Columbia, MD are two restaurants that serve great sushi. If great sushi is what you're looking for - Sushi Aoi isn't it...

THE best sushi I have had in DC and possibly the best in the U.S.! The fish is fresh and expertly prepared while the price is very reasonable. Toro nigiri for under $10!! (they run out early.. no wonder) The service is outstanding as well. Don’t expect frills and elaborate décor. This is a small family restaurant that provides great food at a very fair price. Many sushi restaurants in DC charge extra for tea and even wasabi, not Sushi AOI. It’s worth a drive and parking. I travel the country 4 days a week and have visited sushi restaurants in nearly every state. I can say without a doubt that Sushi AOI is my favorite.

Really the best sushi I've had in D.C., and the prices are very reasonable. You really need reservations if you're thinking of going for lunch - it's a smallish space, and the secret is definitely out as to how good this place is. I've always had excellent service, once the wait for seating is over. The decor is very casual. Don't hesitate, this place is great!

Excellent dishes. We tried several, and all were fantastic.
