Awesome place for large groups w/ friends

This is the only spot in DC that still has a view on from U St. NW that hasn't been taken over by the upcoming "lofts." Most other locations lack a full sit down area with the view of the city without paying an arm & a leg, but this place has it all. I've had several birthday dinners here with friends & family over the years and have never had a bad time & everyone I've been with there has had an excellent time. The food is great for sharing, some dishes are better than others, but what place doesn't have plates that don't lack in some department? Overall this is still one of my favorite places to drink, eat and entertain that's still got it's own style without blending in with the rest.

    Great View, Not Food

I have been to Tabaq many times. I do not know why I continue to go back when the food is subpar and the service is too! If you want eggs served on a puddle of grease, poor service, and a good view this is the place to go. I would spare yourself and possible visitors of Tabaq.

    Great atmosphere, mediocre food

I live on U street and was drawn to Tabaq because of its glass rooftop dining area. The views are nice (not amazing), but it was fun to eat dinner with the rooftop open to the elements. However, I found the food to be mediocre. the hummus was tasty, but the scallops were just ok. Most of my friends at the table had the same feeling. the food was nothing special. I have heard that brunch at Tabaq is really good, so I plan to give it another shot. It is a fun dining atmosphere, so I do reccomend trying it out. Maybe you'll find some tastier dishes!

    Nice, but...

This place was all we were hoping it to be. Interesting and tasty food, trendy atmosphere, and accomodating service. However the views they claim are not that great. On the top deck( where the view is supposed to be) there is the bar as well as dining area. Overall a fun experience
