    Be prepared to wait

Yes, both the sandwiches and the pizza here are yummy, but be prepared for a long wait. When we've called in a pizza order, we've had to wait over 30 min past the time when they told us to come pick it up. The sandwiches can take a long time, too, but they are great for a picnic!

It isn't up to a rave

I've tried The Italian Store for a good number of years, and frankly it's been a sorry experience every time. Fine it's a carryout with long lines, but the staff certainly isn't efficient, and not too friendly. They claim the Milano is their most favored sub. Why, I don't know and I won't go into a long litany. As for their muffaletta, one faces a big lump of bread with not too much content. Finding the olive tapanade is like finding the holy grail of condiments. And upon that basis, friends, I haven't tried any of their other carry-out meal components.

    Good eats

The Italian Store brings it on like Donkey Kong: Fresh meats, cheeses, Italian seasonings and oil on Italian rolls. Try the Capri or the Roma on a hard roll, ask for extra hot and sweet peppers. The combination of prosciutto, provolone, Italian hams, capicola, mortadella, and other Italian delicacies will fill you up and leave you wanting more. The lines are long and the wait can seem ridiculous but they are well worth the authentic Italian subs. Truly a gem in Virginia. Enjoy!

    True Italian

This place has one of the best Italian hero's in the DC area. The real Italian roll really makes it! Long lines at lunch, so allow some time.
