Poorest service ever
There's a line in "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" in which a disappointed Charlie says, "I bet the gold ticket makes the chocolate taste bad..." or something like that. Here, I would paraphrase it to the service is so poor (and slow) that it makes even the very good German food to taste bad. I have been going there despite the consistently slow and indifferent service but now I have hit the wall and have put this on my Restaurant Axis of Evil. Manager is never apologetic about slow service in which appetizers take 20 minutes to appear and bartenders who are either blind or so distracted they cannot properly attend to empty glasses of customers. Gave it many chances, now it's time to cut them loose.

great pastrami
Pastrami is the best I've ever had, and I'm comparing to NYC deli's like Katz's, Carnegie, etc. Kitchen was very slow. Took over 20 minutes to get served sandwiches and we were the only customers. Check ended up being a bit more than expected.

HB München - Oh yes!
Love this place for its beers! Surprisingly good food. tables, bar tables, bar and an island bar - kind of tight, but all worth it - Food is amazing. Service is great, and it has a nice local feel to it. Sports bar - plenty of TVs, great sausage. Will go there again.

Great food and wine
There are not that many bars in our neighbourhood, so Thirsty Bernie has been a real treat. I love the staff - all local and friendly! Go and try the stake sandwich and the spicy fries! my husband boasts about their european beers on tap. I am not much of a beer drinker but I'd take his word for it.

Poor service
The beer is great, and the food isn’t so bad, but the service is . On a UFC game night (Saturday, July 12th), I waited almost 15 minutes before the bartender got around to getting me a drink, and then he had the audacity of saying to me, “You do realize that we live on tips, right?” Since service had been so slow, I gave him a small tip. After that, he refused to serve me at all the rest of the night, and he told the waiters not to serve me either. The bar was not as crowded as you might think; the bartender was just lazy with a bad attitude. Since the night was winding down anyway, I left without making a fuss, but I would not recommend this place to anyone.

after 18
i played a round at Arlington Country Club with a buddy of mine from work last week and saw this place on my way back to 66, I had read fantastic reviews in the Washingtonian, but never knew where it was. Never thought it would be literally in N Arlington. The place was bumping at 6:30 with a happy hour crowd of young parents and country clubbers. The beers on tap were mostly new to me but when in North Arlington do as the Germans? do. The bartender sold me on something paired with my Pastrami, "smoked pastrami" (out of this world, whoever thought to do this is incredible). The Menu was a great blend of Bavarian and American food highlighted by the beer list. Even if your not into the whole sports thing this place is perfect, the TVs blend in nicely and dont punch you in the face with a Football. Definately headed back anytime i find myself in those neck of the woods

leffe and smoked turkey rueben
i went last friday for lunch and a had a leffe dark and the smoked turkey rueben. Both were phenominal. I want to try the beer sampler some time i dont have to go back to work. The manager is a local lacrosse player for the bayhawks that coached my kid at a camp over the summer and the bartender knows my wife from Arlington Country Club. This is a real local place with incredible food and drink and even better service. i admit the decor can come across as plain but who cares
