Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse
Posted by Edwin Cobb on 02/15/2014
My wife and I wanted to go to the only restaurant that we have no complaints with. Tokyo Japanese Steak House in Alexandria VA for Valentine’s Day. (Last night). I always order the shrimp. But this time it was obvious that the shrimp came from a bag. They were tasteless and chewy. I asked the Chef and he swore to me that they came in that morning. What he didn’t know is that I ‘ve been a Cook for over 35years and I know a frozen shrimp when I see one and taste one. $30 for fried rice and grocery store frozen bag shrimp.

Wife and I love it. It's at a nice location with a riverside walkway close by for after dinner. The food has always been exceptional. I haven't had anything I didn't love. While it is a bit pricey, it's dinner and a show. The Sushi tastes fresh. Service is a bit better than the other two Japanese Steakhouses in Crystal City and Balston that I understand are owned by a brother or other relative of the owner of this one. A recent menu change makes the two a lot more alike in not only offerings, but I think pricing too. Perfect for a date, but except in the Sushi bar not necessarily an intimate location for a date as at the grill you're likely to be seated with other customers around the grill.
