Overbearing but decent
The staff were pleasant, and the cafe has potential, but it is overbearing to the point of smothering the customer. The tea was overpriced, and because they had it fully brewed for me (rather than putting it in a bag and letting me decide its strength), it was bitter. And I kind of prefer to butter my own bread. I felt like a child and as though they thought I was inept. I'm sure it was supposed to be good service, but it ended up in amounting in a soggily-buttered bagel and bitter tea.

Great Indie Coffee/Tea Place!
U Street Cafe is a great new addition to U Street. First of all, its not a chain. And, second, the coffees and food offerings are really good! Plus, the service was friendly and quick. Definitely my new coffee spot on the way to work and for brunch on the weekend!
