Uncle Julio's Rio Grande Cafe

If you want to have a conversation while you eat, this is NOT the place to go. It is the loudest restaurant I've been in. Upon walking out, our ears literally rang. We were in a 6 person booth, and couldn't hear each other talk. Even if the food was worth the high prices, we wouldn't go back due to the noise. The food was mediocre at best. Not worth the higher prices they charge. For these prices, they should be the best Mexican restaurant around, but they aren't. So please go elsewhere. I said - please go elsewhere!

I love mexican food- but one of the many reasons I love it is because it's CHEAP. At Uncle Julios, the food is good, but I KNOW it doesn't cost $13 to make 2 cheese enchiladas- even with the rice and beans on the side. Also- I understand drinks are expensive in the DC/Metro area, but I got a house margarita, and when I saw on the check that it set me back $8 my tipsy high tanked. Dollar for Dollar- you can do better elsewhere.

Excellent quality Mexican food and I think they have the best Carne Asada of any Mexican restaurant I've been in, including Texas. Their secret must be in the marinade, because the meat is so tender and so tasty, I used to order the fajitas all the time and now I'm a devout Carne Asada man. I go there every time I visit. The atmosphere is a happy one either at lunch or at dinner. I highly recommend their margaritas too!

Okay, first, this is in Reston and so I expect the prices to be a bit steep. I have been going here for about 7(?) years now and while the quality of the food has improved, the sizes of the portions have shrunk while the prices have increased. (Typical for Northern Virginia) The atmosphere is ridiculously loud on the weekends and, due to walking through the bar area to get to your table, I hardly call this kid friendly.(During the days it is great but leave the kids home for dinner) As I said, the quality of the food is high but the portions have shrunk over the last few years. I have eaten here maybe 30 times and plan to come back at least 30 more times. That alone should speak for itself.
