Most authentic Indian
I lived in India for several years, and the food at Woodlands is the most authentic tasting vegetarian I have had since living in Madras (Chennai). Each dish at Woodlands has a distinct flavor and texture, and I remember how easy it was to be vegetarian in India. I have tried many other Indian restaurants in Maryland and D.C., and the dishes often taste the sameas though there is some big vat of dull, thick "currry sauce" to which meat or vegetables are added according to the order. I have tried Udipi, but I find that Woodlands reflects better the complexity and variety of Indian cooking from different regions. I suggest trying the lunch buffet, which is a great value and provides the opportunity to sample many different types of food. The buffet entrees vary from day to day, with a few staples of South Indian vegetarian (e.g., sambhar, rasam) always available. If you are new to the experience, ask the manager to describe the dishes and to tell you how the food is traditionally enjoyed. Your experience might be enhanced by pairing certain foods with particular chutneys, for example, although you are free to invent your own combinations of flavors. Enjoy Woodlands!

I want to live on the doorstep!
I love love love loooove this restaurant! I absolutely cannot get enough Woodlands. It is THE best Indian food I've ever eaten. I don't think it's possible for someone to get a bad meal here. I just can't say enough good things about it.

Great Pani Puri. Service good but have heard complains from nearby table.
