Yen Cheng's menu is not spectacular much of it is standard "Chinese done American" style, with a non-descript all-of-China fare. However, that doesn't mean it's bad usually food is tasty and portions are decent sized. Sometimes overcooked, but usually good enough if you come in at a busy dinner hour and turnover is fast. Service is decent as well the standard "all my cousins from Guangzhou" crew. Usually quite pleasant, but not skilled in wait service, most do not speak great English. Not terrible if you are ordering, just point at the menu, but if you have questions, better talk to the manager. The dining room is very funky old school Chinese decorations with a low light and curtained windows. You feel like you are transported back in time and place to that wonderful Chinese restaurant in Miami, circa 1960. It is clean enough, though they could do bathroom duty more often. If you are a connoisseur of Chinese cuisine, stay away. But if you like Chinese food, this is a decent place. You won't hate yourself for missing it, but in Fairfax, what the hell else is there on a Tuesday night at 10 pm?
